A spirits company must have a spirited office. Global architecture and design firm Gensler delivered just that for Edrington’s space in New York, in a project led by principal and design director Jean Anderson. Nods to company history and culture permeate the office and the wares are front and center. “In our design, upon entering the space, the visitor is welcomed by a display of their products in a bar setting,” Anderson explains. There, the company can entertain, host tastings, and conduct bartender trainings.
Each conference room speaks to the individual brand it represents. An astronaut-themed wall covering in the Cutty Sark room nods to it being the first liquor sent into space. The Macallan conference room features a lighting fixture that integrates Scottish whiskey barrels.
Vintage pieces mix with contemporary ones to evoke a family’s unique and personal collection, acquired over time. Anderson likens it to the feeling of being in an “old, historic home.” But the office is geared to today’s workforce, complete with many different spaces for collaborative work.
