For the fifth edition of its Design Awards competition, Roche Bobois partnered with students from Parsons School of Design at The New School to design and prototype functional full-scale furnishings driven by the theme "Seating for Eating." All 16 projects will be displayed at the brand's Madison Avenue showroom from May 10–May 23.

In an exclusive installation, Carl Hansen & Søn will present the Preludia Series by Brad Ascalon—the brand's first collaboration with an American designer. A/D/O presents Spirit of the City, a site-specific installation by London-based United Visual Artists that investigates the physical and emotional responses of individuals when navigating urban environments. A modular system of revolving mirrored columns, the installation will present a dynamic composition of movement, light, and shadow that will transform A/D/O's outdoor courtyard. Open May 18.

New Zealand furniture brand Resident will present its first large-scale independent show in New York City called "Travelling Without Bags," created in collaboration with interior architect Rufus Knight, that will mark the launch of its 2018 collection of sofas, chairs, and lighting. Converso presents "Acapulco is Fun?" an exhibition of mid-century modern Mexican design. David Weeks Studio introduces "Lorre," a proof of concept installation by Weeks. Inspired by the British term for material transport, Lorre is a flexible, movable light source that uses low-voltage components and suspended cables. Lorre is designed to adapt and conform to any spatial environment, allowing for a sculptural lighting piece that can be part of a larger architectural gesture. May 17–20.

WantedDesign has commissioned graphic artist Camille Walala to permanently reinvent the facade of a seven-story historic building in Brooklyn's Industry City creative hub. At 40 meters high, the project will be both her biggest New York commission and her tallest building to date. The building's new face will be revealed on May 17.
