2018 Hall of Fame Inductee: Marcel Wanders

"Iconoclastic. Provocative. Even controversial. Marcel’s whimsical imagination has taken him all over the map, working on 1,900 projects! He considers himself a true humanist—a philosopher of the human imagination. For the past 22 years in Amsterdam, he and his staff of 60 have brought to life his playful, quirky, and fantastical ideas. This Dutch designer’s repertoire runs the gamut from product design for Roche Bobois, Bisazza, Alessi, and Swarovski to art installations at the Centre Pompidou and the MoMA. He co-created his own design label in 2001: Moooi, which manufactures and sells furniture by Wanders as well as his design icon peers, including Maarten Baas, Jurgen Bey, and Piet Boon. An international sensation with no stopping... I am truly honored to be welcoming Marcel Wanders into the Hall of Fame on November 29th, 2018."

In my work I want to be complete and honest. It's important to find a podium for that, and I'm happy to have found it in design.
