Studio TK and Artifort Bring Iconic Harcourt F500 Lounge Chair to North America

The shell of the F500 chair is large enough to curl up in.

“First the person, then the chair.” Such was Geoffrey Harcourt’s design adage. In the case of the British designer’s 1967 F500 lounge chair, the person in question was none other than Harcourt’s girlfriend, whose penchant for sitting cross-legged inspired the chair’s extra-wide seat. Now, through Studio TK’s partnership with original manufacturer Artifort to make and distribute the Dutch company’s furniture in North America, the F500 is available here for the first time. Perched on a powder-coated steel swivel base, the seat comes in a variety of upholstery options: with nearly invisible seams or welted or tufted for a more residential feel.
