In the months following the Italian government's declaration of a state of emergency in response to COVID-19, events and activities around the globe have been stalled, including  Salone del Mobile.Milano. Federlegno Arredo Eventi board members announced today that the storied fair—initially scheduled to take place April 21-26, 2020 and then postponed until June—now is suspended until April 13-18, 2021.

Citing the current unprecedented circumstances surrounding the novel COVID-19 virus, board members said that "medium-term uncertainties" made it impossible for the event to take place in June. Optimistic for the future, however, they noted that the 2021 edition—which marks the Salone's 60th anniversary—will be bigger than ever for the design industry.

Next year, all the biennial exhibitions will be held in conjunction with the Salone Internazionale del Mobile, the International Furnishing Accessories Exhibition, Workplace3.0, S.Project and SaloneSatellite. For the first time ever, EuroCucina, FTK (Technology For the Kitchen) and the International Bathroom Exhibition will simultaneously take place, along with Euroluce, which was already scheduled for 2021.
