AIA New York has announced that 35 projects by AIANY members practicing in New York City have been named winners in its 2020 AIA New York Design Awards. Judged by a panel of architects, educators, critics, and planners from outside New York, the winners in five categories—Architecture, Interiors, Projects, Urban Design, and Sustainability—will be celebrated at a luncheon on April 17, 2020 in New York.
The top prize, Best in Competition, was awarded to Glenstone by Thomas Phifer and Partners, while the winning projects in the five categories were awarded either an Honor, Merit, or Citation. Among the top Honor recipients in the Interiors category were two projects covered by Interior Design in 2019: The first is Poster House by LTL Architects, which also was an Interior Design Best of Year honoree for Small Museum/Gallery and whose founding members, Paul Lewis, David J. Lewis, and Marc Tsurumaki, were inducted into the magazine’s Hall of Fame in December.
Other Honor winners included The Shed by Diller Scofidio + Renfro and the Rockwell Group; the Richardson Olmstead Campus Renovation by Deborah Berke Partners, Flynn Battaglia Architects, Goody Clancy, and Andropogon Associates; and 55 Hudson Yards by Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates.
