Asbury Park, New Jersey, will soon welcome its newest destination: the Asbury Ocean Club. Composed of residences and a 54-room boutique hotel designed by Interior Design Hall of Fame member Anda Andrei, Handel Architects, and Bonetti/Kozerski, the 17-floor hotspot will mark the latest fixture in the seaside town’s ongoing revitalization spearheaded by iStar CEO Jay Sugarman. (Previous developments include the Asbury Hotel, the Monroe, and Asbury Lanes, which opened last month.)
The Asbury Ocean Club will both reflect and enhance its locale, starting with a double-height lobby that features polished custom concrete and slatted oak walls. “We took on a beach house vernacular that’s open, light, and airy, and kept materials simple,” says Handel Architects principal Gary Handel. “We then added a gentle curvature to the building that reflects the shoreline.” Residences are available in up to three bedrooms, with east-facing terraces that offer panoramic views of a seemingly infinite shore. Top-tier amenities such as Miele appliances, white lacquered custom cabinetry, Hansgrohe fixtures, walk-in rain showers, and engineered stone countertops lend even more luxury.
