When Petrus Palmér, founder and CEO of Swedish furniture brand Hem, isn’t planning new launches with the likes of designers Luca Nichetto, Philippe Malouin, and duo GamFratesi, the serial entrepreneur (he was also a founding member of the design group Form Us With Love and is co-founder of minimalist watchmaker TID) can be found enjoying the many well-designed delights on offer around Stockholm, the city he calls home.
Osquars backe 9
The newly built School of Architecture on campus of KTH Royal Institute of Technology is designed by my favorite Swedish architects, Tham & Videgård. It recently won the prestigious Kasper Salin prize.
2. Ett Hem
Ett Hem is a former residential Arts and Crafts building in the beautiful area of Lärkstaden, transformed into a amazing, Ilse Crawford–designed boutique hotel of only 12 rooms. Great breakfast and afternoon tea.
3. Acne Archive
Shop samples and items from previous collections from the progressive Swedish fashion brand at good prices.
My favorite restaurant is located on the picturesque island of Djurgården. Oaxen Krog is the fine dining part, and Slip is the casual Swedish bistro. Experience the best of Swedish cuisine.
Herserudsvägen 32, Lidingö
This sculpture park and gallery is located in the former home of Swedish sculptor Carl Milles, famous for his bronze sculptures. Milles spent his whole life and a large part of his earnings on perfecting and embellishing this unique estate overlooking the archipelago's inlet.
6. TID Watches
The brand store of design-led boutique-brand TID features watches that I co-founded with my old design studio Form Us With Love and another partner. See and shop the full range of iconic, minimalist watches. Located next to Acne Archive.
Hallwyl House is an extravagant palace smack in the middle of Stockholm—built with no budget restrictions in 1893—with all interiors intact (and even the trash) from the last noble inhabitant. There’s also a nice restaurant in the beautiful patio.
Rosendalsterrassen 12, Djurgården
Located in a beautiful greenhouse and vast gardens on Djurgården, the café serves homemade and organic lunch, pastries, and drinks. Perfect for a Sunday stroll.
Birger Jarlsgatan 4
Located in the upscale area of Stureplan, Riche has been the definitive watering hole for Stockholm’s fashion and business crowd for decades. The artsy slash bourgeois interiors of this nightlife institution are designed by Swedish icon Jonas Bohlin.
Hem's pop-up shop in New York City, which features the brand's 2017/2018 collection, is open at 325 West Broadway through November 26.
