Emmanuelle Moureaux Installation Displays 60,000 Paper Numerals

Born in France, Emmanuelle Moureaux has spent the last decade in Tokyo, where the work of her firm, Emmanuelle Moureaux Architecture + Design, has been inspired by the city’s density. Her series 100 Colors continues the theme with spectral installations in spaces in such disparate cities as Buenos Aires and Pittsburgh.

For the latest version of the series, Moureaux erected the installation in her adopted hometown, at the National Art Center, also celebrating its 10th anniversary. Forest of Numbers encompassed 60,000 paper numerals, zero through nine, in her signature rainbow of colors suspended from the ceiling. Although up for only, yes you guessed it, 10 days, more than 20,000 people came to see it.
