Snarkitecture has installed a temporary canopy of balloons inside Santiago Calatrava’s Oculus at the Westfield World Trade Center in New York City. The Manhattan-based firm, renowned for their avant-garde approach to art and architecture, created the display with creative agency Mother New York in celebration of World Water Day.

Co-founders Alex Mustonen and Daniel Arsham sought to create a one-of-a-kind environment that both engages commuters and supports clean water access. Throughout the day, passersby can view the assemblage of aqua-colored spherical forms against Calatrava’s white-ribbed structure, which opened in 2016.

The canopy visualizes the impact of a new campaign by Stella Artois. The Belgian brewery collaborated with water.org to launch the “Buy A Lady A Drink” campaign, which will secure five years of clean water access for one person in the developing world with each purchase of a limited-edition chalice. For each chalice sold, one balloon will be added to the installation.
