Masquespacio Renovates a Language Center near Barcelona

Noise levels can get high with courses serving 40 students at a time. So the Acadèmia Altimira, an English language center near Barcelona, Spain, brought in Masquespacio to renovate. Removing cumbersome round tables created enough room in the 1,300-square-foot space to insert dividers to control acoustics. The firm managed to insert five small classrooms, two spaces for private study sessions, and a computer area. Plywood partitions are low enough to still allow in natural light, while slatted sliding doors allow peeks into the enclosed spaces. The cheery blue-and-green palette was conceived to appeal to children without alienating adults, since the center serves all ages.
