Italian native Matteo Scagnol and Cairo-born Sandy Farag Attia met at Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design, founded their firm Modus Architects in 1999, and married six years later. One joint victory led to renovating and expanding the headquarters of Damiani-Holz & Ko, a manufacturer of environmentally friendly wood building systems, which were pushed to the limit in the design.
