It was “wheels up” for the Steelcase corporate jet one sunny morning when Interior Design editor in chief Cindy Allen and five of the contract sector’s busiest designers were invited to headquarters in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to view the latest furniture as the company gears up for its 100th anniversary. They also heard about ideas for today’s mobile office—as epitomized by the company’s Work Café, a Shimoda Design Group project featured in the magazine’s February issue. Off-site diversions included the Grand Rapids Art Museum and breakfast at a restored Frank Lloyd Wright house.
