Time to Shift Gears: 5 Design Firms Reimagine Their Own Studios

Design firms reimagine their own studios:

1. Firm: VeenendaalCave

Site: Atlanta

Standout: Staffers from two venues came together amid local icons and mid-century classics on a full floor in a Class A tower.

2. Firm: Roger Ferris + Partners

Site: Westport, Connecticut

Standout: A facade in zinc, cypress, and stucco gives a suburban ground-up building a distinctly urban flair.

3. Firm: TPG Architecture

Site: New York

Standout: Rather than typical rows of desks, the two-level layout emphasizes alternative and collaborative work areas.

4. Firm: Perkins + Will

Site: Los Angeles

Standout: A 25-foot-long worktable, wrapped in reused MDF, makes an immediate impact, thanks to the glass wall at the entry.

5. Firm: Rossetti

Site: Detroit

Standout: In a 1920’s bank with a 1950’s addition, the contemporary touches start with the reception area’s charred lumber paneling.
