|PROJECT NAME||Dream Inn|
Beachy, retro, and playful were the watchwords of architecture and interior design firm Arcsine when tasked with updating the Dream Inn in Santa Cruz. A beachfront hotel, the hues of the Pacific Ocean predominate, from corridor doors to sconces in the pool house. To harken back to its establishment in 1963, furniture is inspired by mid-century design. A row of surfboards in the lobby honors the first shop of surfing legend Jack O’Neil. Since hospitality projects are best judged by their users, Arcsine director of interiors Brooke Taylor notes that the longtime guests of the hotel have given the project their stamp of approval. “They feel we were able to capture and refresh the spirit of the iconic property while preserving its soul,” she says.
