Bohlin Cywinski Jackson Equips Under Armour Connected Fitness With New Office

When Under Armour’s Connected Fitness digital division needed room to grow, the company muscled up into a 50,000 square foot historic building in San Francisco’s South of Market neighborhood. Bohlin Cywinski Jackson thought a few interventions—polishing the concrete floors, adding bleachers for a dining room/ping-pong stadium/yoga studio—would be a good fit with the building’s existing concrete frame, exposed brick, and industrial sash windows. “My favorite detail,” says design principal Gregory Mottola, FAIA, “is the open stair we designed in the heart of the floorplate, with perforated steel panels that are transparent and delicate.” The flight is a perfect way to elevate an office space—and your heart rate.
