Visionary: 2015 BoY Winner for Sales Center

PROJECT NAME Visionary
LOCATION Hong Kong
FIRM CREAM
SQ. FT. 46,000 SQF

How better to market apartments in the concrete jungle than with an urban garden? To ink contracts with potential buyers for the more than 2,000 units at a new luxury high-rise before they’re complete, the real-estate developers behind the project commissioned the firm supervising the interiors to design a separate sales facility. Creative director Antony Chan responded with a space that invites visitors to contemplate the pleasures and joys of nature.

The 46,000 square feet center on a Zen-like indoor oasis with islands of potted trees and grassy hillocks edged in smooth black river stones. Overhead, suspended honeycomb aluminum “poetically represents a blue sky,” Chan explains. Undulating hallway walls are lit from both above and below. “Curves convey a sensuous, scenic, and enchanting promenade through the galleries,” he adds. A straight hall, meanwhile, has shiny panelized walls and, hanging overhead, successive layers of shapes that, taken together, give a cloudlike effect—picture a stage-set flat, turned upside down. In a multimedia lounge, a pair of plant walls flank a projection screen. Ottomans are scattered about in front, upholstered embodiments of the soft sell.
