Tuohy - Coda

Whether you're accommodating an assistant or the CEO, Tuohy has a suite to suit. Bernard Tuohy designed Arrive as a cost-effective alternative to the built-in stations found in most reception areas. With enough modularity to address multiple functions, the freestanding desk accepts privacy panels in a variety of sizes and materials, including Corian and all manner of wood. The desk itself and the top and sides of the coordinating storage units are wood-veneered. Another veneer appears in Coda, an array of reconfi gurable pieces designed by Jess Sorel to lend open plans the sophistication of yesteryear's private offices. The centerpiece, a desk-table hybrid slender in form but robust in style, has a top in the veneer-unless you prefer synthetic stone, Corian, or glass-and a base of brushed steel or polished chrome. Storage units, scarcely needed in paperless workplaces, become scaled-down accents. And the absence of bulky wire-management extrusions, which would have blurred the sharp silhouettes, anticipates the wireless revolution. 800-533-1696; tuohyfurniture.com.
