British fashion designer Sir Paul Smith's affinity for stripes takes a textural turn in Point, the sixth collaboration in his decade-long association with the textile purveyor. Densely woven rayon yarns are secured with a fine nylon binder, resulting in a textured grid pattern similar to needlepoint's. Silvana Angeletti and Daniele Ruzza are passionate about bath design. For evidence, witness Angeletti Ruzza Design's first sink and tub fittings for Graff. The series is called Sento, Italian for I feel.
The slender brass fittings can either be chrome-fi nished or be powder-coated matte white or black. For the sink, they come in five versions: three-hole practically fl ush with the sink, single-hole at 4 5/8 inches high, vessel model at 10 ½ inches, wall-mounted, and fl oormounted. Discreetly tucked behind sliding backsplash panels are all manner of storage and gizmos-pull down a panel to expose towel racks, built-in knife sleeves, small appliances, and electrical outlets. Directly above, you'll fi nd glass shelving for dishes and a shielded range hood behind counterweighted hinged panels. Customize total length in 9-inch increments beginning at 4 feet, and select from 20 colors of back-painted glass, etched or smooth, or honeycomb aluminum. Materials are low-VOC and recyclable, and components are flat-packed for shipping.

Ken Gangbar Studio - Custom wall panels

These are rocky times for Ken Gangbar. When Interior Design Hall of Famer David Rockwell needed a dramatic wall treatment to punctuate the lobby of the Se Hotel (now the Hotel Palomar San Diego), he drew upon Gangbar's aptitude for imagination and fabrication. Contractors carved five recessed channels into a 30-foot-wide expanse of wall, then finished them in concrete. Next, the Toronto-based sculptor and his crew embarked on the laborious task of hand-assembling the 3,700 porcelain and marble "stones" to cascade into 25-foot-high currents.
