  • Phillip Jeffries - Chain Mail

A medieval mainstay is reinterpreted for today in the Chain Mail group of wall coverings. Textured jute is woven atop metallic or matte grounds to create a knitted effect, just like its finely meshed armor namesake. The 36-inch-wide paper-backed panels, available in nine metallics and three matte tones, are treated with a stain-repellent finish. 973-575-5414; phillipjeffries.com.

Amid chilly scenes of frost and snow, Rick Janecek's garden is in full bloom. His Petal Power plates for Global Views add pop-art asterisk emphasis to practically any wall. Fired with reactive glazes, the ceramic blossoms are then fi tted with a single keyhole for quick installation. Choose from two sizes, 16 ½ or 22 ½ inches in diameter, and fi ve colors: orange, green, celadon, aqua, and dark blue. 888-956-0030; globalviews.com.

  • Bettinger Studio - Newlon

Photographer Richard Bettinger's naturalist imagery meets modern digital-printing technology in Newlon. The vehicle for the wall coverings is Terralon, a PVC-free surface made from recyclable polyester and natural fibers. Among the 12 patterns are the classically ornamented Feathered Nest and tie-dye-like Gazing. In 52- and 54-inch widths. Through David Sutherland, 214-742-6501; davidsutherlandshowroom.com.

  • Graham & Brown - Forest Muses

Marcel Wanders is totally flocked-at least when it comes to wallpaper. His four-pattern Whispers collection pits soft velvet decoration against rough-textured paper, like the winged nymphs dancing across damask on Forest Muses. It's an update in sensibility but also practicality, as the 20 ½-inch-wide rolls can be cleaned with a wet sponge. 609-395-9200; grahambrown.com.

  • Maya Romanoff - Flexi Mother of Pearl Mosaic

When you're grading on a curve, consider Flexi Mother of Pearl Mosaic, a thinner and more flexible version of the manufacturer's original Mother of Pearl wall covering. Intended to tightly hug columns and other undulating surfaces, the patent-pending process features hand-inlaid Capiz shells on a nonwoven backing. The 18-inch square tiles are also protected with a topcoat for easy maintenance. 800-933-6292; mayaromanoff.com.

  • Vahallan Papers - Non-Woven Collection

With papers this pretty, it's a shame to keep them at home. Which is exactly why Dan Nelson and Cory Lyons, owners of the 14-yearold residentially focused manufacturer, have now set their sights on the commercial sphere. Painted by hand in Lincoln, Nebraska, the wallpapers of three collections, Textures, Linear, and Non-Woven, and its star pattern, Topaz, frequently mimic much sturdier materials. Chunky relief detail makes the metallic tone of Texture's Capri pattern all the more conspicuous, as shades of rust and cypress-green mingle with gold. The shimmer is a bit more demure in Linear's Veyda II, an opulent and organic mix of silver, gold, and bronze. But the subject turns to stone in Dakota Ridge, another Linear pattern, with earthy browns and tans accented with silver. The patterns can be randomly torn into 3-by-4-inch fragments or produced in asymmetric or symmetric blocks, in four sizes ranging from 11½ inches square to 23½ by 46½. 866-795-6682. vahallan.com

  • Soli Architectural Surfaces - Pixel

The 12-inch-square panels, available in six designs-such as Pixel-are made of solid aluminum elements on a mesh backing. Standard color options are black, silver, and multicolored. 323-951-9903; soliusa.com.

  • Elitis - Vases

Rosaria Rattin left architecture school to study fashion in Paris but eventually returned to spatial design through Kose, her brand of handcrafted ceramic accessories. Now she's thrown some ideas against the wall to see if they stick, and they certainly do. It took two years to perfect a new technique to produce her Vases wall covering for Elitis: Jersey fabric with nonwoven backing is laid over foam then thermo-formed in a mold to create the relief texture. The resulting 49-inchwide roll comes in 3 ¹/³-foot lengths, up to 65 ½ feet long. 33-56-1802020; elitis.fr.
