No need to reach for the hot-pepper flakes at GD Cucine's first U.S. showroom and store, now open in New York. The 8,000-square-foot, two-level space has plenty of its own fl avor: Expect such seasonings as Canaletto walnut or textured matte glass. There's plenty of the latter in Argento Vivo, Roberto Pezzetta's freestanding kitchen system. For glass cabinet fronts, choices run the gamut from white, black, or silver to an audacious blue, green, yellow, or orange, all framed by blackanodized aluminum. The 16-foot-long island terminates with a round glass counter 53 inches across. Embedded with LEDs, it encircles a black-anodized recessed wine cooler that may be covered by a matching fruit bowl. Counters of clear or frosted glass are back-lacquered, while solid-surfacing seamlessly surrounds the cooktop and the sink.
