  • CD+5 - 3StepArt

Charlie Tyke turned 2/90 Sign Systems into a major supplier of architectural signage. He's now semiretired, but he's not just golfing. His entrepreneurial spirit and his passion for art combined to spark this new company. Its cornerstone offering is 3StepArt, a name that describes the specification procedure: Select one of a dozen abstract compositions signed and dated by the artist, then a size from 1 foot square to 5 by 10 feet, then a color scheme. (Or consider commissioning your own masterpiece in the dimensions of your choice.) Pieces in the inaugural collection are digitally printed in VOC-free, ultraviolet-cured ink on expanded PVC. Exposed relief detail and fi nished sides make framing optional. 616-656-4350; 3stepart.com.

  • Magnuson Group - Sotare

These are recycling receptacles you won't mind displaying. QDesign's Sotare line, constructed of powdercoated steel, comes in four styles-a 34-gallon half-elliptical unit (with either one or two top openings) and a left- and a right-sided 14-gallon quarter elliptical unit-with possibilities for creative configurations. In addition to the anodized-aluminum finish here, they're made in bronze metallic, dark anthracite, and lunar white. Your garbage never looked so good. 800-342-5725; magnusongroup.com.

  • Seves Glassblock - Glass Blocks

The word "dogged" could be used to describe the research Seves does on glass blocks; the company's choice is "incessant." Either way, Seves is clearly on a mission to improve the aesthetics and technology of its signature product. This year it debuted Glass Blocks, which not only feature three-dimensional surfaces and a strong color palette but are also more energy efficient. 39-55-44-951; sevesglassblock.com.

  • Du Verre the Hardware Co. - Series 3

Talk about multitasking. 888-872-4780; richter-veneertechnology.com.

Held aloft by clear panels of tempered glass and available with doors or drawers, the standard 18-inch-deep unit comes in two sizes: 36 by 20 inches and 47 by 20 inches. Combine them to create credenza-like configurations of nearly any length. Through M2L, 212-832-8222; m2l.com.

  • 3form - PaperCut

When 3form states it has plans to send zero waste to landfill, the company walks the walk. How will this noble goal be accomplished? One answer is in-literally-PaperCut.
