Rollout - Yonkers Station Ceiling

Anita Modha and Jonathan Nodrick may call Toronto home, but their imagination takes off with New York. The cofounders of Rollout, a source for custom wall coverings, span the city's centuries and sensibilities in Wanderlust: New York, a 26-pattern tour of architecture, imagery, and curiosities.
The trip begins underground in Subway Diagram With Text, based on Vignelli Associates's discontinued map of the system, and Route Bullets, a blurry matrix of Metropolitan Transportation Authority symbols. Historians should appreciate NYC Vintage Map, just as preservationists will recognize GCT Blueprint, an elevation of the landmarked Grand Central Terminal. But not all sources are so immediately identifi able, especially as smaller images repeat into abstraction, such as the beaux art detailing in Yonkers Station Ceiling and the river of rows in Water Towers. The blooms in Pops of Pastel don't necessarily read urban, unless you know that its designer, Matthew Langille, is also an avid backyard gardener.
Printed on Type II vinyl using water-based pigments, each design is completely customizable in size and color. Although the MTA may quibble if you try to turn the Lexington Avenue line from green to red. 416-960-0110; rollout.ca.
