BuzziSpace - Buzziblinds

Debuting in the hallowed halls of the Merchandise Mart, BuzziSpace made itself instantly ubiquitous. The space-planning mavens not only manned a temporary booth upstairs but also commandeered part of a ground-level corridor for a pop-up lounge and installed a partition and seating cubes in the pressroom. Among the attractions was BuzziBlinds. Inspired, most notably, by Oscar Niemeyer's modernist sunscreens, Alain Gilles devised the system to control acoustics while defining and dividing open floor plans. Its rotating panels are covered in Buzzi Felt, fabricated entirely from recycled PET bottles and offered in 14 colors, from neutral Mokka to spicy Curry. The panels measure about 9 inches wide by either 45, 59, or 73 inches high and fi t into straight or curved floor plates in powdercoated recycled aluminum.
