F. Schumacher & Co. - Trina Turk signature fabrics
Ever since the age of 14, when Trina Turk cut up a bedspread to make what she calls “the weirdest” pair of pants, she’s known that textiles can transcend their intended commercial parameters. But her passion for prints wasn’t truly unleashed until the 1980’s, when she designed OP surf-wear. Infatuation turned to enterprise in 1995, as she began dressing style-conscious beach babes in her namesake label’s upbeat Californian chic. Last year, she opened Trina Turk Residential, a Palm Springs boutique offering pillows and upholstery cut from the same cloth as her clothing. Now that her first signature fabrics actually intended for, say, bedspreads, sofas, and windows have debuted at F. Schumacher & Co., she seems to have come full circle.
The 11 patterns are bright, breezy, and oh-so-Cali, referencing modernist architecture and poolside desert culture. Befitting the Left Coast lifestyle, they’re also indoor-outdoor. Five options in acrylic duck range from the slightly psychedelic Super Paradise to shade-specific Sunglass, and six patterns in acrylic twill include lively geometric Trellis.
