"My passion is great design,” says Graves. “I am dedicated to providing great design to people with disabilities." Graves is well aware of the importance of design in daily life: In 2003, he was paralyzed from the chest down after an infection.
Graves will help the AIAS reach its $2 million minimum fundraising goal. The funds will support membership and program goals for Freedom by Design, a nation-wide community service initiative underway at more than 30 colleges and universities. Through Freedom by Design, students design for low-income individuals with disabilities, addressing safety, dignity, and comfort. To date, the AIAS has secured $1 million in commitments.
Select students from five colleges and universities will earn the opportunity to work with Graves and his firm this Spring.
Headquartered in Washington, D.C., the AIAS is a student-run, independent, non profit organization with 140 AIAS chapters worldwide.
