Prefab Goes Cottage-Style

The 300-square-foot homes will be available in four styles.

From TreeHugger.com -- Interior Design, 2/14/2006

Displaced Katrina victims are getting another option in temporary housing. The 300 square foot "Cusato Cottage" is a fresh alternative to the standard white FEMA trailer at a comparable price. Generally featuring one bedroom, a living area, bathroom and small kitchen the cottages come in 3 styles, with a fourth "coming soon". The cottages can be built on-site or delivered prefabricated. These cottages can also be used in several ways after the main home has been constructed - from being an additional component to the new home to guest or rental cottages. These aren't just for those who lost their homes to Katrina, the founder, Marianne Cusato, has created these cottages as a way to "provide authentic traditional designs for affordable housing".
