Commercial wallcoverings manufacturer Source One has announced the jury for its Wallcovering Design Competition, co-sponsored by Interior Design. Winners will be selected in two design categories--hospitality and corporate.
Julius van Heek, vice president of Gettys Group; Bob Lehrmitt and Sharon Drinkwine, designers for Lehrmitt Associates, which designs for Source One; Neville Lewis, professor and design consultant at the School of Visual Arts in New York; and Karen Singh, Interior Design's market editor will serve on both hospitality and corporate panels. In addition, Trisha Wilson, president and CEO of Wilson & Associates and George Scammell, design manager for Walt Disney World Co., will serve on the hospitality panel. The corporate panel will also include Stephanie Ebeyer, Gensler’s resource director; Ken LeDoux, vice president and design director at Ellerbe Becket; and Mike McCoy, interior designer at Heery International. The contest is open to students and design professionals. Applicants are asked to submit original works--enteries are due December 2 by 5pm--to be judged based on innovation, aesthetics, design originality, and suitability for intended use."What I find most intriguing about this contest is the opportunity for designers to have their work manufactured for use in the commercial market," says Singh. "It is exciting that two talented individuals will soon be able to add 'product designer' to their resumes."The hospitality design winners will be announced at HD Expo 2006 and the corporate design winners at NeoCon 2006.© 2009, Reed Business Information, a division of Reed Elsevier Inc.
