Los Angeles architect and preservationist Brenda Levin and radio host and producer Warren Olney are the 2008 recipients of the University of Southern California’s School of Architecture's Architecture and Urbanism Awards.
Levin, recognized for her Los Angeles renewal projects, takes home the 12th Parkinson Spirit of Urbanism Award, named in memory of architects John and Donald B. Parkinson. She is founder and principal of Levin & Associates Architects, an architecture and urban planning firm with completed projects including the new Griffith Observatory.
Olney is the fifth recipient of the Esther McCoy Award, a tribute to Southern California modern architecture historian and critic Esther McCoy. The host and executive producer of "Which Way, LA?" and "To the Point," Olney and his programs have received numerous national, regional, and local awards for broadcast excellence.
The honorees were selected by the USC School of Architecture’s Architectural Guild. The awards were presented yesterday, March 26 at the National Center for the Preservation of Democracy, designed by Levin & Associates Architects, in downtown Los Angeles.
