Mohawk Industries Debuts Green Web Site
The home page features an innovative ticker tallying the firm's green progress.

Flooring manufacturer Mohawk Industries has launched a new Web site dedicated to its sustainable platform. Zeroing in on the firm's environmental efforts and social responsibility initiatives, MohawkGreenworks.com is divided into four sections: Green Products, Green Manufacturing, Recycling, and Green at Work.Information details the firm's recycling and waste management initiatives, manufacturing processes, eco-friendly sampling tools, and environmentally responsible products. On the home page, graphics state statistics Mohawk is proud of, such as: "some of our finest carpet fibers started life as old soda bottles" and "we are the largest recycler in the floor covering industry." Each visit to the page begins a ticker boasting the company's sustainable progress. With rapidly climbing numbers, the ticker tells you how many PET bottle have been recycled into carpet yarn, how many pounds of tires have been recycled into doormats, and how many pounds of waste were diverted from the landfill while you have been viewing.
"It’s easy to say you’re green. It’s a lot more difficult to actually be green," says Frank Endrenyi, vice president of sustainable development for Mohawk Industries. "Greenworks is designed to help people understand how much effort goes into the process and how it impacts every level of our company."
