MilliCare Offers Carpet Education Classes

The classes will begin in December.

Starting in January 2008, flooring manufacturer Shaw Industries will require customers to use carpet care firms certified by the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC). On the heels of this news, textile and carpet maintenance firm MilliCare will offer IICRC-approved carpet care classes.

Participants, trained to be certified carpet technicians, will tackle topics such as carpet fiber, fiber identification, carpet construction, dyeing methods, installation issues, and chemistry. The IICRC courses will complement the firm's current seven-part technician certification program, which zeros in on the company’s proprietary dry-centered carpet cleaning system. The first series will begin in December.

“The IICRC endorsement will become an increasingly valuable asset within the facility management industry, and the added certification makes MilliCare’s network of knowledge even more targeted to customer needs and wants,” says Stephen Lewis, MilliCare technical director.

An independent certifier, the IICRC is the largest nonprofit registry of inspectors, cleaners, and restorers serving the U.S., Canada, and abroad.
