New York’s Cooper-Hewitt Seeks Design Advice

Upload design favorites and cast your ballet.

Here’s your chance to tell the world what makes good design. For its first People’s Design Award, New York’s Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum is seeking help from the general public. Browse designs, upload images to nominate your own, and cast your ballet online through October 16, 6pm Eastern Standard Time.

A part of the 2006 National Design Awards program, the People's Design Award will coincide with the museum’s National Design Week, which will take place from October 15-21.

"The goal of National Design Week is to make design more accessible to the public, and what better way to do that than to give them a chance to vote for their favorite designs," says Cooper-Hewitt director Paul Warwick Thompson. "Design profoundly affects all of our lives and we hope that the People's Design Award will spark a national dialogue about the value and impact of good design."

On October 18, winners will be revealed during the National Design Awards gala, held in New York. At 10pm Eastern Standard Time, the news will be streamed live on the Cooper-Hewitt’s Web site.

National Design Week includes six days of free admission and free design workshops and events. A complete schedule of events is available online.
