Tighe Architecture

Fine Living, Los Angeles

by Annie Block -- Interior Design, 12/1/2006

When it graced the cover of June's Interior Design, this futuristic fantasia at NeoCon West radiated teal rather than lemon-lime, thanks to color-changing LEDs beneath the translucent flooring of honeycomb-core resin. That was just one of the many clever applications showcased in Patrick Tighe's 1,300-square-foot live-work installation at the L.A. Mart. Incorporating products from such sponsoring manufacturers as Caesarstone, Panelite, and Knoll, two structures—an ellipse and a platform, joined by a canopy—housed a kitchen, a powder room, a living area, an office, and a spa. "They complement, contrast, and violate each other as they coalesce," explains the architect, whose real-life Los Angeles flagship for eco-fashionista Linda Loudermilk opens this spring.
