Shelton, Mindel & Associates
Condominium, New York
by Jen DeRose -- Interior Design, 12/1/2006
At this one-bedroom apartment in one of Richard Meier & Partners Architects's three towers overlooking the Hudson River, Peter Shelton and Lee Mindel looked outward—through all that glass—for inspiration. The New York skyline informed the furniture selection, with low custom sofas and ottomans leaving sight lines uninterrupted in most of the 2,200-square-foot space and classics by Arne Jacobsen, Poul Kjærholm, and Verner Panton paying homage to the mid-century aesthetic. The grays of the Hudson set the tone for the color palette. "The polished terrazzo floor," Mindel notes, "is three parts frozen river, one part sky."
