A tunnel studded in rows of dual-color LED lights, accompanied by the sounds of changing radio frequencies, greeted 160 designers and manufacturers arriving at iHeartMedia's New York headquarters for the latest edition of Interior Design’s One Night Only event series. The agenda kicked-off with a roundtable discussion led by editor in chief Cindy Allen and emphasizing the importance of client-designer collaboration as well as artistic creativity. The surrounding office space was a key example! Designers Michael Beneville of Beneville Studios and Brad Zizmor and Dan Folger of Architecture + Information led tours of the office highlighting technological interventions such as a conference room with custom interactive lasers. Depending on how visitors waved their hands through the beams, the visuals and the soundtracks in the room shifted and surprised the audience. Outside, footage from pop concerts kept the entertainment factor at a high in the main reception area.
Interior Design’s One Night Only event attracts local designers and architects in a networking and design discovery meet-up that occurs in cities across the country. Previous locations of the program have included Atlanta, Dallas, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle and Washington, DC.
