When: May 10, 2013 - May 11, 2013
Location: Santa Monica Civic Auditorium, 1855 Main Street Santa Monica, California, United States of America
On May 10-11, 2013, the annual Alternative Building Materials & Design Expo (AltBuild Expo) celebrates a decade as the largest and most-respected green design and building expo in Southern California. Presented by the City of Santa Monica, the AltBuild Expo & Conference returns to the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium, serving top industry professionals—architects, builders, contractors, engineers, landscapers—and exhibitors, as well as a large consumer audience. The event highlights programming that serves both those already committed to, and those who are poised to enter, sustainable design.
An annual stop for top speakers in the field of sustainable and alternative building practices, this year’s lineup of over 40 speakers includes Sustainable Sites Initiative’s Director Danielle Pieranunzi, as Friday morning’s keynote; architect / author Eric Corey Freed; and founder of Studio of Environmental Architecture David Hertz with architect / urban designer Isabelle Duvivier, who won the 2012 LEED for Homes Outstanding Single Family Project Award from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).
The Expo portion features over 150 hand-picked exhibitors covering green building and design materials; energy efficiency techniques and technologies; alternative energy; water conservation and management; environmental plumbing; municipal and state agencies; and non-profit organizations. The Expo also features a curated section of artisan materials and manufacturers, as well as “Ask an Expert” at the American Institute of Architects Los Angeles (AIA|LA) booth.
Although anyone may attend either day, the programming for Friday is geared to the professional, and on Saturday, to the public.
