Suzanne Belperron (1900-1983) stands apart as the twentieth century's only female master jeweler. Elegant and audacious, she pioneered a new aesthetic in jewelry, yet never sought recognition. Despite her discovery by style cognoscenti, her celebration by the fashion press, ad her profound influence over the rest of the 20th century's jewelry design, her name is little known today. Asked once why she never signed her work, Madame Belperron replied: "My style is my signature."
This lecture will be presented by Nico Landrigan, president of Verdura, who is responsible for relaunching the Belperron name and is writing the designer's biography.
