What a Bright Idea!

March 15, 2011

brain bulb

Even though some argue that the CFL bulb is "so 2008" and that it's high time we move onto LEDs, a CFL is still a much wiser choice than the now antiquated incandescent. Belarusian industrial design firm Solovyovdesign has come up with an aesthetic that makes this sentiment even more obvious: the CFL bulb as human brain. Playing off of the old good idea as lightbulb over your head, the conceptual design highlights the CFL as a smart choice for personal lighting. The bulb is the same size as any other CFL. One can only hope they'll come up with something equally as clever when LEDs take over!

- I love your article on this. A few weeks ago I had an eenrgy expert come to my home and run a number of tests. One of the most interesting things we discussed is that washing your clothes in Cold water is not only better for your clothes (Hot will actually make most stains worse) but $100 s of dollars per year can be saved. I've been doing this ever since and it Works!!!! Nice, responsible post from a wonderful talent artist.

- What about trying to find those CFL bulbs form a local, indapendently owned, hardware store instead of national big-box chain! Trying isn't even the right word there, because it won't be very hard to do.There are several to choose form in Cincy, and all within striking distance from any neighbourhood you might be living in. Support the local guys instead of sending your dollars across the country to make a boring old CEO more and more rich!!!

Can I just say what a relief to find someone who actually knows what theyre talking about on the internet. You definitely know how to bring an issue to light and make it important. More people need to read this and understand this side of the story.

I love this idea. I find that another good way to conserve energy is to get a more energy efficient roof. I went to this roofing charlotte nc, www.charlotteroofing.com, company that did a great job with getting me an energy efficient roof.
