Christien Meindertsma's Knit Poufs

July 15, 2010

Urchin Pouf knit stool

Dutch designer Christien Meindertsma loves design that engages a user in the most visceral way. Her work, in a truly Dutch fashion, is clever, engaging, even sentimental, and forces us to question the way in which we interact with our physical surroundings. She is interested in "the products we consume and the materials they are made of" and it shows in her latest work, urchin-shaped pouf stools handmade (by Christien). She knits New Zealand wool, a material she is fascinated with and intimately understands, and uses enormous broomsticks to knit each pouf over the course of six weeks. See all of Christien's work here, including some rhetoric about her vision as a designer.

Good tips and advice given. It is not easy to cesure an interior design position given the credit crunch and Great starting point for homeowners, designers or developers to get some ideas on improving properties. Wow! The photos on this site are fantastic. If a designer produced results like these, you would be very pleased to pay for such results.
