Lori Weitzner designs products--wallcoverings, fabrics, rugs, trims--that are meant to engage the senses and establish an emotional connection, making one feel good just to be around them.

Everything has a hand-crafted feel about it, none more so than Weitzner's newest product, Newsworthy, which is woven with nylon thread on a handloom from strips of recycled newsprint, backed and protected with a clear, water-based topcoat. Suitable for all applications from residential to hospitality, it's a clever and playful application and the headlines can still actually be read.

Lori Weitzner's philosophy incorporates both beauty and environmental responsibility. Nimbus, for example, is a wall treatment made from sustainably harvested tree bark from Mexican fig trees with the remainder of the tree used in local buildings. Weitzner used the same product as accents on the winning dress at Club Cambria's ASID Project Runway show at the El Paseo 2009 Fashion Week in Palm Springs.

Designer Dorothy Willetts incorporated Newsworthy and Mist, another Weitzner wallcovering, into a whimsical dress design for the ASID Project Runway El Paseo 2010 Fashion Week in Palm Springs.
