Seed-Sprouting Cardboard LifeBox

July 8, 2010

Lifebox

Mycologist Paul Stamets has launched the latest and greatest solution to the problem of excessive and environmentally irresponsible packaging materials. His newly-released Life Box is made from cardboard embedded with a mix of tree seeds that sprout as the cardboard is discarded. The boxes can be made in almost any dimension, and do not increase the cost of shipping for companies or individuals. Each box houses hundreds of seeds, which could increase tree growth by 25,000 - 25,000,000 acres per week if the boxes were used to their full potential! The Life Boxes are manufactured domestically and use recycled cardboard and soy based inks. Boxes can be ordered in bulk by contacting the company directly. Check out the website for more information.
