Shigeru Ban's 10-Unit Chair System

July 1, 2010

Japanese designer Shigeru Ban, known for his work's simple beauty and vernacular materials, has moved into the world of flat-pack chairs with his 10-Unit System. The DIY chair system is constructed from a lightweight composite material that comes from recycled papers and plastics. The chair is made from 10 identical L-shaped pieces, which come together in an elegant form that is both sturdy and sustainably built. It can also be disassembled easily, giving it the advantage of portability and reuse.
