The Living Principles

June 28, 2010

Last week was the official launch of the Living Principles for Design, an online portal and community where creative professionals can share best practices and case studies around sustainability (and more specifically, how to take real and enabling action within sustainability). The website was originally dreamed up byt he AIGA, and has since expanded into a collaboration of associations, professionals, and changemakers from Mohawk Fine Papers to Cumulus, Design Ignites Change, and many more. The Living Principles site is organized around four "considerations:" Environment, People, Economy, and Culture, providing tools and inspiration to incite real social and environmental change through design. To join the Living Principles' community, sign up here. From the website:

"The Living Principles framework aims to clarify the multiple, interrelated dimensions of sustainability and guide purposeful action in everyday design and business practice. Drawing from decades of collective wisdom, theory and results, the framework weaves environmental, social, economic and cultural sustainability into an actionable, integrated approach that can be consistently communicated to designers, business leaders, educators and the public.
