A Monday morning reflection
May 24, 2010

I stumbled upon this image this past weekend, and was confused, then intrigued, then depressed, then humbled by it. Artist/designer Ian Collins runs a website called The Big Caption, in which he superimposes captions over photographs and posts them daily. He recently posted this aerial image of oil from the recent BP spill seeping into the waters off the Louisiana coastline (see the original image here). While his intervention is clever, the resulting reaction is nothing but tragic. I do not mean to start off the week with a Debbie-Downer provocation, but rather to provide a reminder of how our actions have impact, however good or bad, small or catastrophically big, in this case.
