Cooper Hewitt opens Design Triennial exhibition

May 12, 2010

This week, the Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum opens their newest exhibition, the Design Triennial, entitled "Why Design Now?"  The fourth triennial in the museum’s history, Why Design Now takes a deep look at how designers are working to address human and environmental problems across multiple fields and scales, from architecture and products to systems, graphics, landscapes, and media. The show has been curated by Ellen Lupton, Cara McCarty, Matilda McQuaid, and Cynthia Smith (the museum also boasts a new Director, Bill Moggridge, legendary designer and thinker, formerly of IDEO), and includes devices like Adaptive Eyecare liquid-filled affordable eyeglasses (above), and (shameless self promotion) my own organization’s Learning Landscape math playground. The show opens on Friday May 14th and will be on view until January 2011.

Hello Dan, Mills, and Tom,During the last ten days I listened to your 42 pstacods in chronological order. I found them tremendously interesting and an excellent preparation for my upcoming (second-career) MLIS studies at UBC. Having taught in the post-secondary system for over 20 years and having worked as an administrator for the last three years, I could certainly appreciate your thoughts and observations from both the faculty and administrator perspectives.Thank you for sharing your experience and insights so generously.BeaP.S. Please let me know when you accept applications for the University of Washington Zotero Trainer Workshop.

Can I just say what a relief to seacrh out someone who truly knows what theyre speaking about on the internet. You definitely know how you can bring a problem to mild and make it important. More folks need to read this and perceive this aspect of the story. I cant believe youre not more standard since you definitely have the gift.
