A Modern Trailer to Call Home

August 24, 2009

Last month, I moved into a 1972 Airstream trailer. I challenged myself to bring only two (ok, maybe three) small boxes of "essentials" and live compactly, in a modern "design nomad" style. Long story short, it’s fantastic, like summer camp wrapped in a paged torn from the sleekest shelter magazines, with a dose of renegade spirit. If my 1972 "antique" version isn’t quite your style, I recommend the Design Within Reach Airstream, designed by Christopher Deam. It combines the legacy of the Airstream’s capsule shape with all the modern accoutrements you might like to have at your bedside. (Modern) trailer life isn’t for everyone, but it’s certainly an adventurous way to live with a small footprint. See details on the Chris Deam Airstream here.

Emily; Great digs!I have always wanted an Airstream, this would be perfect. My dad designed and created the first custom tour buses for the music industry many years ago.I assume you designed your own interior. It really looks like fun. I want one myself.
