Sink Positive

January 13, 2009

One of my all-time favorites for in-home sustainable solutions is Sink Positive, which diverts incoming water that would normally go straight to your toilet bowl into a toilet-top sink to use after flushing. The fixture sits atop all standard toilets and works as a sink after you flush, then channels dirty water into the toilet bowl. Sink Positive requires only basic plumbing adjustments and is available online.

Truly a great product. The Sinkpositive allows the user to wash their hands with clean drinking water before it is used to fill the tank on you toilet for flushing at a later time. We sell this product at www.tierrapath.com and ship directly to your home Check us out! Tierrapath.com

Caroma product is an integrated toilet sink, unlike SinkPositive which is a retrofit (and cost 80% less).

Caroma has a similar product (Profile™ 5 with Integrated Hand Basin) in Australia that work extremely well (I have one myself) and from a design perspective are a bit more sleek and seamless than the Sink Positive. Not sure of their availability in the rest of the world. As soon as you use one, you become very aware of the amount of water that toilets use on a daily basis when you watch the tap continue to run to fill the cistern!
