Stuart Haygarth's Spectacle Chandelier

September 22, 2008

image, found object chandelier, stuart haygarth, discarded eyeglasses

Let’s face it—some DIY, found-object design just looks… trashy. But British designer Stuart Haygarth knows how to make trash into treasure with grace and beauty. So much, in fact, that you may not even notice that his Spectacle chandelier is made from discarded eyeglasses—1,020 pairs, to be exact. The added bonus is that the prescription glasses, when linked together in their gorgeous cascading form, refract light indirectly and in interesting patterns that flat glass would not.

Price upon request via Stuart’s website.
