North South Project: Etsha Weavers

August 5, 2008

North South Project is a new model for viable design-craft collaboration. Founded by Toronto-based Patty Johnson, the venture works closely with local and traditional craftspeople across the world not just to support the export of their products, but to develop manufacturing and production techniques for more social and environmentally-sustainable enterprises.

This is the first of 3 North South Project posts, as each craft partnership deserves to be in the spotlight. First up: the Etsha Weavers of Botswana are expertly detailed, strong, and represent both tradition and the future for their community. Their products include a full line of gorgeous graphic baskets and other woven accessories.
