Project H Learning Landscape in Uganda

February 12, 2009

I should warn readers that this post is a bit of shameless self-promotion, but the nonprofit I founded, Project H Design, has just completed an amazing project in Uganda. Design fellows Dan Grossman and Heleen de Goey have built a math playground for the students of the Kutamba AIDS Orphans School. The grid, made from reclaimed tires and ten math games, comprise a system called the Learning Landscape, which combines education and play to teach basic math concepts in an engaging way.

Project H is hoping to build three more playgrounds, both in Africa and in the US. Please help us fund these future constructions, as well as the development of a product-sized version of the math system, by making a donation. Check out all the photos via Flickr here, or on the website.

very cool. our school just raised enough money to help build a school somewhere in Uganda. the goal was $7500 and it took 3 days to raise it. i am pretty involved with helping African refugees here (in Idaho).
